n Dead Period for all Extra-Curricular Activities is Midnight July 3 until Midnight July 19-2013-There will be no student involved activities of any kind during this period at CHHS or involving CHHS Students! 


ü Prom Ticket Purchase Guidelines

In order to purchase a prom ticket this year, students must first submit an application and wait for notification of approval. Guidelines for guests have changed slightly; however, only students and graduates of DeSoto County High Schools may attend.

Please follow these instructions for ticket purchase:
1.  Pick up a copy of the application and prom guidelines from the folder outside of Mrs. Eldridge's door (B5) or from a Junior officer during break beginning Monday, January 28th.
2.  Return the completed form to Mrs. Eldridge no later than February 22.
3.  Once you are approved, you will be notified.
4.  Only then may you purchase a ticket from a Junior Officer at break.
5.  Any student who did not pay a Junior fee will have that added to the cost of his or her prom ticket. 6.  The last day to pay for a ticket is Friday, March 1st.



ü ACT Diagnostic Test


We have been presented with an opportunity to help students with ACT scores.  I will attach a flyer explaining this opportunity.  All high schools in DeSoto County are working to improve ACT scores for all our students.  ACT scores are very important for any student planning to go to college.  Please encourage your student to become involved in working to make higher scores on their ACT test. The diagnostic test will be given on February 2 at CHHS beginning at 8 A.M.  You may register by going to our website and clicking on the ACT Sign Up Banner. You may also pay the morning of the test or you can send money or check to CHHS. A Parent Meeting for more details will be held on February 21at 6:30 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center at CHHS(Please enter thru the front doors of the school).

ü National Honor Society Peer Tutoring Schedule

Our peer tutoring schedule from now until the end of school will be every Tuesday and Wednesday in the library from 3:55 until 4:45 p.m.
Exceptions to the Tuesday/ Wednesday Rule Are:
Tuesday/ Wednesday, March 12th/ 13th (Spring Break)
Tuesday, April 2nd (Day after we return from Easter Holiday)

Congratulations to Olivia Romito and Anthony Hernandez for being named the CHHS nominees for the Lindy Callahan Memorial Scholarship sponsored by MHSAA.  They will compete with all other schools in our district to receive a $1500 scholarship to the college of their choice.

Congratulations to Nikki Campbell she placed 3rd in the Taste of DeSoto Art Contest.  There were over 85 entries from the Mid -South area.  Nikki and her artwork will be featured in Click Magazine.

The following students have been selected to attend the I-55 Band Clinic on February 1-2 in Senatobia on the NWCC campus.

Street Smart Presentation for Freshmen-10:30
This is a presentation that all DeSoto County Schools 9th graders see.  It is presented by a group of Paramedics on what they have seen when teenagers make bad decisions while driving a vehicle. It will leave an impression on the students.
